Prof. Wieslawa Jarmuszkiewicz is a Professor of Biological Sciences specializing in biochemistry at the Laboratory of Mitochondrial Biochemistry, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznan, Poland. She completed her entire academic path at AMU, from her studies and doctorate to habilitation and professorship. For about 30 years she has studied mitochondrial function in unicellular organisms, plants, insects and mammalian tissues, with a particular focus on identifying and characterizing mitochondrial energy-dissipating systems across eukaryotes. Her postdoctoral training included three years at the Department of Bioenergetics, University of Liege, Belgium, and eight months at the State University of Campinas, Brazil.
